Largest foreign holder of American debt tells US to ‘live within its means.’

Ouch.  China and at least 25% of American agree.  Debt is not a lifestyle!  Americans have been sold by the lending industry that we N-E-E-D debt.  Our forefather’s didn’t buy it and we shouldn’t either.

If you think  I’m berating the Democratic and the Republican parties – your right, I am.

I am also berating the American public – self included – for allowing Washington to get so far out of control and not holding our elected officials accountable for their decisions.  This is everyone’s problem…  and just like a toddler, representatives will go as far as they can until a parent (ie responsible adult) says No and backs it up with a consequence (time-out, spanking, removal of privileges).

I honestly believe that with the right leadership (who says that we don’t already have it?  I don’t know) and determination by The People we could be completely out of debt in 5 years.  Yes.  5 years.  Yes.  It will be painful – and so will dragging our feet and arguing about it for the next decade (or 3 terms while the home teams play the finger-pointing game), which will be even more painful.

So how do we fix it?  Here’s a resource:

What is the Great Recovery?

The Great Recovery is a grassroots movement spread by people who are tired of looking to Washington for answers. The truth is that the government can’t fix this economy. It’ll be restored one family at a time, as each of us takes a stand to return to God and grandma’s way of handling money.

Together, we’ll bring this country back on track—one family, one church, one community at a time.

btw – I wondered what Dave would have to say about this…. 🙂
